Sports, Chess, in modernity, the human life is too valuable to send out into the environment, to contest against nature.
The theory behind games, is that one can see and evaluate the traits of a human, without risking their life against the environment.
One can’t but imagine, that our best warriors, would be most useful for war, but there is the possibility that they sit on the playing field, testing their attributes against one another, their athleticism, too valuable to waste on the battlefield.
Or that our brightest minds, would be most useful in the sciences, but on the playing board, we can see their intelligence more clearly.
But the game is not the battlefield, and the board is not our war for truth.
