We live in the Dark Ages of Mind, though we call ourselves Modern, and if it is so, that there is still a measure of darkness over the mind, there is a difference in ages past compared to other forays into science.
While certainly no one could blame the alchemist before there was chemistry, there was also less to little or even no awareness of what genuine scientific inquiry was compared to its forerunneres.
Still, it is clear, that genuine chemistry, might likely have been impossible without the existence of alchemy, and the same is likely true for the present day mind science.
However, we as moderns, are not our medieval forebearers, and while they did lack a sufficient understanding of what a science is, versus what one is not, we surely have this understanding.
And therefore, there is a distinction, that while there is no responsibility for the dangers of alchemy, for any present day pseudoscience, there would be some level of culpability, and more than a little, for there was awareness. and no one could say there wasn’t, lest we move back into a past age, where we could truely say “We Didn’t Know.”
For in this case, yes we did, and we did so anyway.
